KATONAH YOGA

layers of shape, metaphor, & dimension

what is katonah yoga?

Katonah Yoga synthesizes Hatha Yoga, Mythology, Taoist Theory and Sacred Geometry. It teaches techniques that enable you to find renewed strength, structure and stability in your practice. With a dedication to functional anatomy and key access points to the practice, Katonah Yoga is an esoteric window into seeing asana practice in a new way.

It is as unusual as it is effective, with tremendous support for over-achieving athletes, overthinkers, and etc. et al. After a lifetime as an athlete, it was Katonah Yoga that healed my body and set it back on course for the second half of my life. Katonah Yoga is the practice that enabled me to alchemize my mind into a whole new experience of itself, and transform my life into its ideal moment.

I am forever grateful to its founder, Nevine Machaan, for her trust in her intuition to bring this practice to the fore; for her leadership and teachings. I am equally grateful to Abbie Galvin, and the Katonah mentors for their teachings, guidance and support in the revolutions that have inspired my revelations.

I currently teach private and small group Katonah Yoga classes. If you are curious to develop this layer of practice into yours, please...

Have questions about
Katonah Yoga?

It is potentiating to be able to adjust the length, force, and volume of one’s personal breath. It is through one’s breath that one enlivens oneself individually and within one’s surroundings.

Connecting one’s breath with the breaths of the oceans, the mountains, the seasons brings the powers of great nature into the personal.

Breathing well feeds the individual. Four characteristics frame a complete breath; an exhalation, an empty pause, an inhalation and a pregnant pause. The rhythms and measures of one’s personal breath can be defined and refined.

~Nevine Michaan, founder of Katonah Yoga

Katonah Expressions

I have been practicing yoga for almost 20 years and have never heard of Katonah yoga before meeting Kari. I love how each class is different and how breath work is always a part of it. Her classes are challenging yet relaxing and deeply healing, almost like therapy for the mind and body. Needless to say, I'm a big fan!
